Falcon Group/Sherman Ave Application

Wed, Oct 19, 2011 • Sherman Avenue

PEPA has combined forces with the HMRA (Harrison Mamaroneck River Association) and the Brae Burn Neighborhood Group to fight the Falcon Group’s Sherman Avenue Subdivision Application under the PEPA umbrella. The Applicant (Falcon Group) is continuing their efforts to build 13 homes on extremely  steep slopes and wetland buffers along the Mamaroneck River.

We are opposed to this plan that destroys 14 acres of open space, encroaches on a residential neighborhood and could set a precedent for future steep slope development throughout Harrison. The application disturbs a very large portion of the 14 acre site, including wetland buffers and regulated steep slopes. Cumulative impacts of surrounding projects have not been identified in the applicant's FEIS. Continued deviation from established zoning densities, has the potential to create cumulative impacts affecting the Town and in particular the overall watershed(s). Of particular concern here are cumulative flooding impacts.

Opponents have told the Planning Board that this application will permanently and irreversibly destroy the area, cause the removal of several acres of trees, disrupt wildlife, increase flooding, increase traffic, burden our schools and destroy an oasis of nature surrounding the river corridor.

PEPA has established a directed fund with all specified donations to be used exclusively to fight the Sherman Avenue Subdivision proposal by the Falcon Group, LLC. Please see donation instructions in the Donate Box below. We hope you will consider making a donation toward this worthy cause.
