Action Needed: Your Signature to object to WJWW’s construction of $100 MM Plant in Kensico Watershed

PEPA is writing today with an Action Alert, Online Petition and Updates regarding WJWW’s proposed Water Filtration Plant including responses to FAQ’s that focus on the Big Question:

Why is Westchester Joint Water Works ("WJWW") Proposing to Construct a Massive $100 Million Water Filtration Plant in a Protected Watershed?

Please read the FAQ’s on PEPA’s website which provide more information about this issue.

This Action Alert asks you to perform the following actions:

  1.  Click here to Sign the Online Petition to Advise the Westchester County Board of Legislators To Just Say “No” to the Land Swap That Would Locate the WJWW Water Filtration Plant Within the Kenisco Watershed
  2. Attend a WJWW with virtual access via Zoom
  3. Keep this Petition moving along to other concerned citizens. Because the Kensico supplies drinking water to millions of people in New York City and Westchester, signatories do not need to live in Purchase to add their name!

Final thoughts: Given the importance of the Kensico Watershed, it makes no sense to construct a large industrial filtration plant in the area selected by WJWW. This is especially true when an alternative location that has already been studied exists outside the Watershed.
