Take Action Now to Reduce Airport Noise & Pollution at the Westchester County Airport
Noise complaints are vital to document that there is indeed a noise problem. Before a noise mitigation program can begin, we must demonstrate the existence and location of the problem.
The most recent airport noise report, from May 2018, shows only 4 households complaining in Purchase. The lack of complaints is taken by both the County and the FAA as an indication that there is no noise problem. It is essential to file a complaint whenever you are annoyed by aircraft noise.
The County’s new noise complaint form can be found at https://viewpoint.bksv.com/hpn3. First-time users are required to register, sign in, and make a report. The entire process can be completed in under five minutes.
Filing your noise complaint by phone allows the convenience of making one call to (914) 939-8484 and reading off all the times of the aircraft you are complaining about.
When making a complaint you will be asked to identify the date and time of the occurrence. Describing the aircraft is helpful, but not required to make a report. Personal identifying data in the complaints is held confidentially.
Again, please file complaints whenever you are annoyed by aircraft noise and encourage your neighbors to do so as well.
